USAGE NOTE 用法说明: rob and 和 steal
Both these words are about taking things that do not belong to you. Rob means 'to take money or property from a person or place'. 两个词都表示拿走不属于自己的东西。rob 的意思是“从某人身上或某个地方抢走钱或财物”:
Someone robbed the bank last night. 昨晚有人抢劫了这家银行。
We don't carry cash because we're afraid we'll get robbed. 我们不带现金，因为我们怕被抢劫。
Don't say 不要说成 'someone stole a bank' or 或 'we're afraid we'll get stolen'.
Steal is used to talk about the actual things that are taken. steal 是指偷走具体的东西:
Matt's bike was stolen. 马特的脚踏车被偷了。
They caught him trying to steal some cigarettes. 他们发现他想偷香烟。
Don't say 不要说成 'Matt's bike was robbed' or 或 'rob some cigarettes'.
