1 to say to someone that you want them to tell you something 问，询问:
"What's your name?" she asked quietly. “你叫什么名字？”她轻声问道。
ask sb a question Can I ask a question? 我能问你一个问题吗？
ask (sb) about sth Did they ask you about your qualifications? 他们问了你的资历吗？
ask (sb) whether/if/why/what etc Helen asked him if he was married. 海伦问他结了婚没有。
2 to say to someone that you want them to do something for you, give you something, help you, advise you etc 要求; 索求:
Sarah wants to ask your advice. 莎拉想征求你的意见。
If you need anything, just ask. 你需要什么，尽管提出。
ask (sb) for Some people don't like to ask for help. 有些人不喜欢请求（别人的）帮助。
ask sb to do sth Ask Paula to post the letters. 让葆拉把那些信寄出去。
3 to say to someone that you want to know if you can be allowed to do something 请求:
ask (sb) if/whether Why don't you ask your dad if you can borrow his boat? 你怎么不请求你爸爸，看看能否借他的小船？
ask to do sth Susie's asked to go home early. 苏茜请求早点回家。
4 to invite someone to go somewhere 邀请:
ask sb out (=ask someone to go with you for a meal, drink etc) （邀）请某人外出〔吃饭、喝东西等〕: Mark would like to ask her out, but he's too shy. 马克是想邀请她出去，但他太害羞了。

5 to want a particular amount of money for something you are selling 要价:

6 If you ask me used to emphasize your own opinion 依我看:
If you ask me, he's crazy. 依我看，他是疯了。
7 ask yourself used to say that someone should think very carefully about something 你仔细想想:

USAGE NOTE 用法说明: ask, inquire/enquire, demand, and 和 request
Ask is the usual verb you use for questions or for when you want information. ask 是表示提问或索求信息的常用动词:
Why don't you ask Dave? 你为什么不问戴夫？
Would anyone like to ask any questions? 谁还有问题要问吗？
Inquire/enquire is more formal than ask. inquire/enquire 比 ask 更正式:
I would like to inquire about job openings. 我想询问一下职位空缺的情况。
If you demand something, you expect to get what you want. 用 demand 表示希望得到想要的事物:
I demand an explanation. 我要求得到解释。
Use request to ask for something formally or officially. request 则用于正式的要求或请求:
He requested permission to return home. 他请求获准回家。 |
