USAGE NOTE 用法说明: doctor, surgeon, GP, physician, vet
Doctor is the general word for someone who is professionally trained to treat people medically. A GP in Britain is a doctor you go to when you need medical treatment who does not work in a hospital. doctor（医生）是总称，指受过专业训练为人治病者。GP（全科医生）是英国的一种医生，这种医生不在医院里为人看病，而是由病人上门去找他（她）看病:
Have you registered with a GP? 你在全科医生那里登记了吗？
A surgeon is a doctor who is trained to carry out operations. surgeon 是专做手术的外科医生:
a famous heart surgeon 著名的心脏外科医生。
Physician is a very formal word for a doctor physician 是对医生的很正式的称呼:
the Royal College of Physicians 皇家医学院。
Someone who is trained to treat animals is a vet, or veterinarian in American English. 经过专业训练为动物治病的人叫 vet（兽医），美国英语则拼为 veterinarian。
