tie sb down
to stop someone from being free to do what they want to do 束缚,限制〔某人〕的自由:
Neil doesn't like feeling tied down. 尼尔不喜欢那种被束缚的感觉。
tie in with sth
if one thing ties in with another, it is connected with the other thing, for example because it contains the same information 与…相符,同…一致:
His evidence doesn't really tie in with hers. 他的证词同她的不太相符。
tie up
1 [tie sb ↔ up] to tie someone's arms, legs etc so that they cannot move 把〔某人〕捆绑起来
2 [tie sth ↔ up] to fasten something together by using string or rope 把〔某物〕捆绑起来
3 be tied up
a) to be very busy 非常繁忙:
Mr Baker can't see you now. He's tied up in a meeting. 贝克先生现在不能见你。他在开会脱不开身。
b) if your money is tied up in something, you cannot use it for anything else 〔金钱〕不能动用:
Our money's tied up in a long-term savings plan. 我们的钱都搁死在一项长期储蓄计划中了。
