1 be bound to do sth used to say someone is certain to do something or something is certain to happen 肯定会做某事，肯定会发生某事:
Madeleine's such a nice girl — she's bound to make friends. 马德琳是个很不错的女孩 — 她一定会交到朋友的。
Interest rates are bound to go up this year. 今年利率肯定会上升。
2 having a legal or moral duty to do something 〔在法律或道德上〕有义务的:
