1 used to say that a number, price, or amount is surprisingly small 只，只有，仅仅〔表示数字、价格或数量出奇地小〕:

The meaning of a sentence can change depending on where you use only. Always put only just before the word it describes. 句子的意思因 only 的位置而异。only 一定要放在它所形容的单词前面:
Only John saw the lion. (=no one except John saw the lion) 只有约翰看到那头狮子。（=别人都没有看见）
John only saw the lion. (=he saw it, but he did not do anything else to it, such as take a photograph of it) 约翰只看了看那头狮子。（=他没有做其他事，例如替狮子拍照）
