USAGE NOTE 用法说明: happen, occur, take place, and 和 happen to
Use happen especially to talk about past or future events that are accidents or are not planned. happen 尤用于表示过去或将来的事件是偶然发生或未经计划而发生的:
A funny thing happened on my way to school. 我上学的路上发生了一件有趣的事情。
What will happen if you have to change jobs? 如果你迫不得已要换工作，那会怎样呢？
Occur is more formal, and is used to talk about an event that has already happened. occur 比较正式，用于谈论已经发生的事情:
The explosion occurred about 5:30 a.m. 爆炸发生在早上约 5 点 30 分。
Use take place to talk about a planned event. 有计划的事情发生用 take place:
Their wedding will take place on Saturday. 他们的婚礼将在星期六举行。
Use happen to to say that a person or thing is affected by an event. 事情发生在某人或某物身上用 happen to:
What happened to your car? 你的汽车怎么了？
This is the second time this has happened to him. 这种事情已经是第二次发生在他身上了。
