The meat from some animals has a different name from the name of the animal it comes from. For example, the meat from a cow is called beef, the meat from a pig is called pork or ham or bacon, the meat from a deer is venison, and the meat from a sheep is mutton. But the meat from a lamb is lamb, and for birds the same word is used for both the meat and the bird it comes from. 某些动物的肉和动物本身的名称不同。例如， cow（牛）的肉叫 beef（牛肉），pig（猪）的肉叫 pork（猪肉）或 ham（火腿）或 bacon（熏猪肉），deer（鹿）的肉叫 venison（鹿肉），sheep（羊）的肉叫 mutton（羊肉）。但是 lamb（羔羊）的肉仍叫 lamb, 至于禽类的名称和肉都是同一个单词:
Shall we have chicken or duck for dinner? 晚饭我们吃鸡还是吃鸭？
