USAGE NOTE 用法说明: start and 和 begin
Usually, these words mean the same thing. However start has some special meanings for which begin cannot be used. Use start to talk about making a machine work. 一般说来 start 和 begin 意思相同，不过 start 有些特殊的意思是不能用 begin 的。发动机器要用 start:
Bob couldn't start the car. 鲍勃发动不了汽车。
You should also use start to talk about making something begin to exist. 表示“成立，创办”的意思时也应该用start:
Starting a new business is hard work. 创业不是容易的事。
