USAGE NOTE 用法说明: fat
If you want to be polite about someone, do not say that they are fat. (A little) overweight or large is a more polite way of saying the same thing. In American English, you can also use heavy. Plump is most often used about women and children, and means 'pleasantly fat'. If someone is fat in a way that badly affects their health, the word is obese, which is the word most often used by doctors to describe the condition of being fat. 若想对人有礼貌，就不要说人家 fat（肥胖）。表达相同的意思用 (a little) overweight 或 large 更有礼貌。在美国英语中，还可以用 heavy。plump 意思是“胖得可爱”，常用于形容妇女或儿童。若某人长得很胖，影响了健康，那就是 obese, 医生最常用此词来形容肥胖。 |
