A sound is anything that you can hear. sound 是任何听得到的声音:
the sound of the wind in the trees 林间风声。
A noise is a sound, but is usually a loud, unexpected, or unpleasant one. noise 通常是指大而突如其来的噪声:
What's that noise? 那是什么声音？
the noise of the traffic 交通噪音
Those kids are making a lot of noise upstairs. 那几个小孩在楼上大声喧闹。
