7 because of something that has happened 由于; 既然:
I'm surprised he came, after the way you treated him. 我很奇怪他会来，因为你那样对他。
8 in spite of something 尽管，虽然:
After all the trouble I had, Reese didn't even say thank you. 尽管我费尽了功夫，里斯连谢谢也没有说。
9 be after sb to be looking for someone 寻找某人:

a) in spite of what you thought was true or expected to happen 终究，根本:

b) used when you are saying something that shows that what you have just said is right 毕竟〔用于表明刚说过的话的正确性〕:
Don't shout at him — he's only a baby, after all. 不要冲着他喊，他毕竟只是个婴儿。
12 be called/named after sb to be given the same name as someone else 以某人之名命名:
She was named Sarah, after my grandmother. 她以我祖母的名字取名为莎拉。
