1 only a short distance from someone or something 在近处; 靠近:
They live near Osaka. 他们住在大阪附近。
Is there a bank near here? 这儿附近有没有银行？
2 close to a particular time 接近〔某时间〕:
She got more and more nervous as the wedding drew near. 当结婚的日子接近时，她越来越紧张。
3 close to having a particular quality or being a particular thing; almost 几乎，差不多:
near perfect/impossible etc a near perfect test score 测验几乎满分
near to tears/death (=almost crying or dying) 快要哭/死了
come/be near to doing sth (=almost do something) 差一点做某事: She came near to hitting him. 她差一点动手打他。
USAGE NOTE 用法说明: near and 和 close
Near and close are both used to talk about short distances. Close is usually followed by the word to, but near is not. near 和 close 同样指短距离。close 之后通常跟 to, 但 near 就不是:
There is a new supermarket near our house. 我们家附近有一间新的超级市场。
We live close to the bus stop. 我们住在巴士站附近。
Close is also used to talk about something that is not far away in time. close 又可用于表示离某时不远:
It was close to midnight. 快午夜了。 |
