a) to no longer speak to, write to, or see someone (与…)失去联系:

15 lose heart to stop having hope and become disappointed 灰心:

16 lose sight of to forget about the most important part of something 忘记〔最重要的部分〕:
We can't lose sight of our goals. 我们不能忘记自己的目标。
lose out
to be less likely to succeed, usually because someone else gets something important which you do not 失利,输掉:
+ to/in/on He lost out on a scholarship because his grades were low. 他因为分数低,未能获得奖学金。
