USAGE NOTE 用法说明: try
You can make try stronger by using hard. 可以用 hard 来加强 try 的语气:
I tried hard to persuade him to stay. 我极力劝他留下来。
Compare 比较 try to do something and 和 try doing something. If you try to do something, you make an effort to do something but do not succeed. try to do 表示试图做某事，但不成功:
I tried to finish the work, but didn't have enough time. 我试图完成那项工作，但没有足够的时间。
If you try doing something, you do it in order to see what will happen. try doing 表示试着做做，以便看一下会有什么结果:
If the machine doesn't work, try giving it a kick. 如果这台机器不运作，那么踢它一脚试试。
