USAGE NOTE 用法说明: lend, borrow, and 和 loan
Lend means to let someone use something of yours that they will give back later. lend 指借出某物给某人:
I can lend you a pen if you don't have one. 如果你没有笔的话我可以借一枝给你。
Borrow means to use something that belongs to someone else, which you will give back later. borrow 指向某人借某物:
Could I borrow your pen for a minute? 我能借你的笔用一下吗？
You can lend or borrow money, but an amount of money that you borrow from a bank is a loan [noun]. lend 或 borrow 可以与金钱连用，但是从银行借来的钱叫作 loan （贷款）〔名词〕:
a bank loan of ￡3,000 一笔 3,000 英镑的银行贷款
In American English, the verb loan is often used informally instead of lend. 在美国英语中，动词 loan 经常在非正式场合代替 lend:
Could you loan me your pen? 你能把笔借给我吗？
This should be avoided in formal or written English, however. 但在正式场合或书面英语中应避免这样使用。
