USAGE NOTE 用法说明: gentleman
Gentleman and lady are often used as a respectful way to talk to or about a man or woman, especially when the person is there and you do not know their name. gentleman（先生）和 lady（女士）是一种尊称，用于称呼或谈论一位男子或女子，尤其当时此人在场，而你又不知道其姓名:
It isn't my turn — this gentleman/lady was here before me. 还没有轮到我 — 这位先生/女士排在我前面。
The phrase Ladies and gentlemen is also used at the beginning of a speech. 片语 Ladies and gentlemen（女士们、先生们）还用于演讲的开头:
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce tonight's guest speaker. 女士们、先生们，我来介绍一下今晚作演讲的嘉宾。
At other times, the usual word is just man or woman. 在其他情况下， man 和 woman 是较常用的词:
There's a man/woman at the door. 门口有个男人/女人。
I was talking to the man/woman who runs the local store today. 今天我和这里开店的那个男人/女人交谈。
