Transport is the usual British English word. The usual American English word is transportation. For most methods of transport, use by to talk about how someone gets to a place. transport 是常见的英式英语单词。常见的美式英语单词是 transportation。表示乘坐何种交通工具前往某处大多用 by:
I came by car/plane/train etc. 我乘汽车/飞机/火车等来的。
However, when someone walks, use on foot. 但某人步行要用on foot:
I came on foot. 我是步行来的。
When you are talking about something that happens while you are using a form of public transport, use on. 谈论在某种公共交通工具上发生的事情时用 on:
I met Jim on the train/bus/plane etc. 我在火车上/公共汽车上/飞机上等遇见了吉姆。
