1 the short form of 缩略式= 'is' or 'has':
What's that? 那是什么？
He's gone out. 他出去了。
2 used to show the POSSESSIVE form of nouns 〔用于表示名词的所有格〕:
Bill is one of Jason's friends. 比尔是贾森的一位朋友。
3 the short form of 缩略式= 'us', used only with 'let's' 〔仅用于 let's〕:
Let's go! 我们走吧！
USAGE NOTE 用法说明: 's and 和 s'
Use 's at the end of a word to show that something belongs to a particular person. 单词末尾加 's 表示某物属于某人:
Mary's book 玛丽的书
his mother's car 他母亲的汽车
Use s' when the plural noun ends in 's'. 复数名词以 s 结尾时用 s':
our parents' house 我们父母的房子
the dogs' food. 狗粮。
Use 's after a person's name, even if it ends in 's'. 人名之后用 's, 即使它以 s 结尾亦是如此:
Ms Collins's office 科林斯女士的办公室
