Use couple to talk about any two things of the same type. couple 用于指同一种类的两个事物:
There are a couple of guys waiting outside. 有两个家伙正在外面等候。
Use pair to talk about two things that are used together. pair 用于指一起使用的两个物品:
a pair of shoes 一双鞋
a pair of scissors 一把剪刀。
However in informal British English, couple can also be used to mean a small number of things or people, though not exactly two. 然而，在非正式英式英语中，couple 也可用于指为数较少的几个物品或人，并不一定是确切的两个:
