USAGE NOTE 用法说明: but and 和 except
Use but and except to talk about someone or something that is not included in a particular group. but 和 except 用于谈论不包括在某一特定群体中的人或物:
Everyone was there except John. 除了约翰每个人都在那里。
He eats anything but pork. 他除了猪肉什么都吃。
But can be used after "none", "all", "no-one", "anywhere", "everything" or "none". but 可以用于 none,all,no-one,anywhere,everything 或 none 之后:
There was no-one there but John. 那里除了约翰没有其他人。
They looked everywhere but in the shed. 他们看了每个地方，除了库房里面。
